When Matt and I were choosing furniture, we decided it was probably in our better interests to get a queen-sized bed. The king-size seemed too big, but after spending most of our lives sleeping alone in our respective double beds, and not being petite people by any means, we decided it would probably not behoove us to try to start out married life crammed into a double bed.
This, of course, rendered our entire collection of sheets obsolete. So we registered for some queen-size sheets, and bought one set on clearance just to make sure we'd have sheets for the bed when the time came, and figured we were all set. We also went out and bought pillows - queen-size pillows, of course. Anything else on the bed would've made me go all Goldilocks. ("These pillows are TOO BIG. These pillows are TOO SMALL.")
That's where the trouble started. Apparently, queen-size sheet sets have pillowcases which are really not big enough for queen-size pillows. They look funny just sitting on the bed, and even funnier after a night of sleep. This has been a problem with every set we have tried, from the clearance-price cheapies I picked up to the 600-count luxury set we received as a gift. Truth be told, it's the more expensive sets that are the biggest offenders.
Can anyone explain why sheets marketed as "queen size" do not fit pillows marketed as "queen size"?
